Breast Cancer
Worldwide, breast cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death (after lung cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, and colon cancer). In 2005, breast cancer caused 502,000 deaths (7% of cancer deaths; almost 1% of all deaths) worldwide. Worldwide, breast cancer is the most common cancer and the most common cause of cancer death among women.

In the United States, breast cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death (after lung cancer and colon cancer). In 2007, breast cancer is expected to cause 40,910 deaths (7% of cancer deaths; almost 2% of all deaths) in the U.S. In the United States, breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second most common cause of cancer death (after lung cancer) among women. In the United States, women have 1 in 8 chance of developing invasive breast cancer, and a 1 in 33 chance of breast cancer causing their death.

If you take a look at the Amercan Cancer Society website and look under "Breast Cancer" you are told the following:

"We do not yet know exactly what causes breast cancer but we do know that certain risk factors are linked to the disease" Then the society says, " A lot of research is being done to learn how the environment might affect breast cancer risk. At this time, research does not show a clear link between breast cancer risk and environmental pollutants, such as pesticides and PCBs.Most studies have found no link between active cigarette smoking and breast cancer. Though both active smoking and secondhand smoke have been suggested to increase the risk of breast cancer in some studies, the issue remains controversial."

The ACS is speaking a load of nonsense, because the cause of breast cancer is known, it can be prevented and now it can be cured. The problem is that you are not going to hear about this from this profit making charity. The ACS is alleged to be working closely with the very industries whose products cause cancers, and the industries that provide the medical treatments. Dr Epstein, who is Professor Emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago, claims that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have both betrayed us, spending tens of billions of dollars of taxpayers and charity money "primarily targeting silver-bullet cures while ignoring strategies for preventing cancer in the first place. He suggests that the NCI and ACS are sitting on tons of information about avoidable environmental causes of cancer rather than making this information public.".

So then, what is the truth? This is what this site is all about, finding out the truth behind the lies...
State of the Evidence 2006: What Is the Connection Between the Environment and Breast Cancer?
By breast Cancer Fund

How do 50 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer develop breast cancer, if they had none of the known lifestyle risk factors or family history for the disease? According to State of the Evidence 2006: What Is the Connection Between the Environment and Breast Cancer?, a report released by Breast Cancer Action, there is compelling scientific evidence pointing to some of the 100,000 synthetic chemicals in use today as contributing to the development of breast cancer, either by altering hormone function or gene expression. The report also identifies radiation exposure, such as that from X-rays and CT scans, as the longest-established environmental cause of breast cancer. In the United States, a woman's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer has tripled in the last 40 years.

During the same period, over 75,000 synthetic chemicals registered with the environmental protection agency have been introduced into our daily life. Of those, few have been tested for safety. Many have never been tested at all. Less than one percent have been classified as dangerous. In fact, until a synthetic chemical has caused damage and devastation to human life or the environment -- proven beyond a shadow of doubt to be dangerous -- there are no tests done, no precautionary restrictions of use recommended.

Why we are Losing the War on Cancer
by Clifton Leaf

Avastin, Erbitux, Gleevec - The new wonder drugs might make you think we’re finally beating this dreaded scourge. We’re not.

Ruth Etzioni, a biostatistician at Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, points out that when you break down the Big Four cancers (lung, colon and rectal, breast, and prostate) by stage—that is, how far the malignant cells have spread—long-term survival for advanced cancer has barely budged since the 1970s

The Mammogram Controversy
By Fred Harding

Screening mammography poses significant and cumulative risks of breast cancer for premenopausal women. The routine practice of taking four films of each breast annually results in approximately 1 rad (radiation absorbed dose) exposure, about 1,000 times greater than that from a chest x-ray. The premenopausal breast is highly sensitive to radiation, each 1 rad exposure increasing breast cancer risk by about 1 percent, with a cumulative 10 percent increased risk for each breast over a decade's screening. These risks are even greater for younger women subject to "baseline screening."

Since 1928, physicians have been warned to handle "cancerous breasts with care -- for fear of accidentally disseminating cells" and spreading the cancer. Nevertheless, mammography entails tight and often painful breast compression, particularly in premenopausal women, which could lead to distant and lethal spread of malignant cells by rupturing small blood vessels in or around small undetected breast cancers.......

Mammography Enters The Deadly Depths Of Deceit
By Barry Lynes

Mammography was known to cause cancer but the media and the "health officials" in the government stayed silent! The mammography policy pushed by the American Cancer Society to fill its bank account remained the U. S. government policy for ten more years until a massive Canadian study showed conclusively what was known 20 YEARS before but what was not in the interests of ACS and NCI to admit: X raying the breasts of women younger than age 50 provided no benefit and probably endangered their lives.

Always Get a Second Opinion!
By Fred Harding

Breast cancer is a master of disguise and as a consequence and tragically the misdiagnosis of the disease can and does happen all to often. Misdiagnosis has now become one of the leading causes of medical negligence litigation in the United States and elsewhere. 2 You only have to surf the web in order to easily find the many law firms touting for business from those who have been wrongly diagnosed. That is why I recommend you get a second opinion if you can even if it means paying for it. You may wonder how misdiagnosis could happen? ...

Exercise and the Lymphatic System!

It should be no suprise that if one exercises regularly the risk of getting breast cancer reduces considerably. When researchers adjusted for known breast cancer risk factors, they found that among all women, the risk of BCIS was about 35 percent lower in those who reported exercising compared to those who were inactive. Scientists are unsure exactly how physical activity may deter BCIS but if you read my book, the answer is obvious. With bouncy breasts during exercise, the lymphatic system functions as it should removing the chemicals that cause cancer that have accumulated in the fatty tissues of the breast ....

The Lymphatic System (Lymphoma and lymphedema)

Most of us first become aware of the lymphatic system as it pertains to cancer. We hear with dread that a friend’s cancer has “gone into her lymph nodes” or metastasized. The reason this is so serious is that the lymphatic system travels everywhere, so if undetected, cancer can move relatively quickly along this network, becoming increasingly harder to treat over time.

The most common cancers in both men (prostate cancer) and women (breast cancer) are related to primary lymph drainage channels in their bodies. In men the inguinal nodes, in the crease of the groin, filter and release accumulated lymph from the prostrate. In women the axillary nodes, located in the armpit, filter and release accumulated lymph from the breasts. In the process, these nodes may sweep up any cancer cells that break away from the original tumor, but do not always succeed in trapping them there. When cancer cells or pathogens spread from one part of the body to others they are said to metastasize....

Tamoxifen - A Major Medical Mistake?

Once praised for its benefits in preventing breast cancer recurrence, the lucrative pharmaceutical drug tamoxifen is now implicated in causing dangerous side-effects, including other types of cancers.

Today, doctors are treating about one million American breast cancer patients with tamoxifen, about 20 per cent of them for more than five years. As studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1989 and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute in 1992 showed, women with breast cancer who took tamoxifen reduced their chances of developing cancer in the other breast (contralateral cancer) by about 30 to 50 per cent. (3) These findings would later be challenged.....

Beware of the Dark Side of Tamoxifen (Nolvadex)
by Sherrill Sellman

Despite tamoxifen's supposed ability to reduce recurrence in postmenopausal women, major studies have shown that tamoxifen reduces death from breast cancer only marginally. The majority of women who take tamoxifen live no longer than women who refuse it. It is with great alarm that researchers are finding that some breast cancers actually learn how to use tamoxifen to stimulate their growth.

Breast Cancer "Cause - Prevention - Cure"
Just Published
by Fred Harding
THE BOOK THAT EXPLODES THE MYTH THAT BREAST CANCER CANNOT BE PREVENTED OR CURED

In 2006 the predecessor to this work, Breast Cancer "Prevention and Cure" Your Choice! was published and it received five-star ratings from Amazon UK readers. The present work replaces, updates and expands upon this book and it includes two new essential chapters that, with several hundred references, shows conclusively what causes the disease and how to prevent it.

Finally the book brings to the attention of the reader news of a remarkable cure that has been discovered by two medical professors at one of America's leading Universities. The science behind the drug has proved to be sound and trials have been very successful. It brings to a conclusion three years of research and the most important book that you will ever read on the subject of breast cancer.

Could this new drug be the REAL Cure for Breast Cancer at Last?
Sample Chapter FREE
by Fred Harding
I believe that there is now a proven drug that is effective against breast cancer. I believe that it can stop breast cancer in its tracks but also to prevent it. What is it? Please take the trouble to read the three pages associated with this link and you will find out yourself what I mean. Whether you agree with me or not that is your choice, but at least when the synthetic version of the drug is presented as the CURE within the coming five years, you cannot say you were ignorant. Why five years?

The answer to that question involves politics, corruption, logistics and the need to produce a synthetic version of the drug. In fact in 2004 the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded $42.6 million to a nonprofit pharmaceutical company, to develop the synthetic drug. So far this has not been achieved, and yet, the drug is available NOW. It is derived from a plant crop that is grown in China and Vietnam, and it has already saved millions of people who have been infected by another terrible scourge of mankind, namely malaria. It is an incredible story, a story that begins amid the blood torn battlefields of Vietnam and what was later found in an ancient Chinese tomb .....

Sherlock Holmes Solves the Nun's Disease
. Sample Chapter FREE
by Fred Harding
Using the character of Sherlock Holmes and his methods for the basis of of one of the chapters in the book Breast Cancer "Cause - Prevention - Cure" I believe I am the first person to answer the riddle that has perplexed scholars and the medical profession for three hundred years or more - the riddle why nuns were more prone to breast cancer than other women.

The document you are about to read is from the eleventh chapter of my book Breast Cancer "Prevention and Cure" Your Choice! The premise of the book is that it is primarily chemicals in our environment that cause breast cancer (and other cancers) and that our bodies are full of toxins, the body burden, as it is known. Our bodies however do have very efficient mechanisms to remove such toxins but the problem is that modern restrictive clothing, dietary factors and other related issues hamper these mechanisms described in the book.

If the thesis of my book is correct there is one thing that needed to be addressed. It is the riddle why nuns were particularly prone to getting the disease during the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, more so than other women were. It is a riddle that has perplexed many a learned mind and until now nobody has come up with a satisfactory explanation. It is because of the frequency of breast cancer among nuns that the disease was known until recent times as "The Nun’s Disease".....

The Tyranny of the Bra
By Fred Harding

An extraordinary thing has happened. An undergarment that came into being less than a hundred years ago has become so essential that a woman would think it incredible that someone would suggest not wearing one. The garment I am talking about is the brassiere, or 'bra' for short. It is extraordinary because if we one accept that recorded history began about five thousand years ago, for four thousand and nine hundred of those years' women somehow managed to survive without one. Now for some inexplicable reason, a woman who is not wearing a bra considers herself to be undressed or incomplete. That statement is not quite correct. In many parts of the world, many women continue to not to wear one. It is only those women who have been touched by western culture that has succumbed to this aberration and it is no coincidence that there is a strong connection between wearing a bra and breast cancer.

Bras, Breast Cancer and the Chinese Connection
By Fred Harding
So during the time when Europe was in the throes of the Dark Ages, in China reports of breast cancer and its treatment was being recorded. We need to ask ourselves, in view of what we have learned elsewhere in this book, why it was the Chinese suffered from the disease while other cultures around the world did not. The key is that unlike other cultures around the world where women were either naked, topless or wore long flowing garments with breasts unrestricted at this time, in China clothing was always worn, accept when bathing.

What is highly significant about this is that besides clothes that Chinese women wore on the outside of their bodies, they also wore an inner under garment. Now comes the clincher! Chinese women wore a brassiere very much like our modern ones. Once again another jigsaw puzzle drops into place. Under the circumstances, how can anybody say that wearing bra-like garments has nothing to do with breast cancer? There is more...

Contrary to Popular Belief Breast Cancer Did Not Occur in Ancient Egypt
Most articles discussing breast cancer will tell you that the disease was known in ancient Egypt. This clip from Zoladex.net, an international information resource for healthcare professionals with an interest in breast cancer, provided by AstraZeneca is typical: 'Breast cancer is not a disease of modern society, it was recognised by the Ancient Egyptians as long ago as 1600 BC. However, breast cancer has become a major health problem over the last 50 years, affecting as many as one in eight women during their lifetime'.

Well that appears to be open and shut case doesn't it? The reader will now believe that what is said is true because there it is. Proof that there is evidence in the writings of ancient Egypt, 5000 years ago, that breast cancer had indeed existed. Does not the fact that two ancient papyri say so and that one of them is even said to describe eight cases of tumours or ulcers of the breast? End of story! Wrong! .......

No More Breast Cancer Campaign

Those working on the No More Breast Cancer Campaign have campaigned for many years to raise awareness and action on the links between the environment and breast cancer. The successful campaign to ban the chemical Lindane was a case study that illustrated the argument that breast cancer is linked to cancer-causing agents present in our environment. Today our campaign is supported by a growing number of organisations including Scottish Breast Cancer Campaign, Women’s Environmental Network and Unison as well as increasing support for our work across a number of European Union networks focussing on health and environment issues.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Story
By Sherrill Sellman
The motto of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is "Early Detection is Your Best Protection." The National Cancer Institute stated in 1995 that "Breast cancer is simply not a preventable disease." This tune was reiterated in 1997 by the American Cancer Society's announcement that "there are no practical ways to prevent breast cancer -- only early detection." [1] So mammograms are the front line of defence. Celebrities like Rosie O'Donnell offer free t-shirts with the honorable words "I've been Squished" if you'll just make a date with your local x-ray department.... So let's all join in and wave our pink ribbons and don those running shows and take to the roads, right? Before you get swept up by the emotional frenzy of this call to arms, there is something you must know.

Is the American Cancer Society more interested in cancer profit than cancer prevention?

Money, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, is the name of the ACS' game. The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a watchdog organization that monitors major charities. After analyzing the ACS' budgets and programs, they concluded the agency is "more interested in accumulating wealth than saving lives."

Corporations – some of which contribute to the American Cancer Society – profit handsomely while they pollute the air, water, and food with a wide range of carcinogens, endangering the lives of millions of people. Why is the ACS silent? Epstein says they are more interested in inflating their budget than waging war against industrial pollution.

Education not Medicine
By Mike Adams

The breast cancer industry is now run by corporations that profit from women with disease. With nearly all breast cancer nonprofits being subjugated by drug companies, the FDA censoring alternative cancer solutions, and the mainstream media wildly exaggerating the benefits of near-useless cancer drugs like Herceptin, there's hardly a message heard about breast cancer today that doesn't have a profit motive behind it.

Tangled in Pink - The Politics of Breast Cancer
By Katharine M. Hikel

Breast Cancer Action is one of several groups protesting the corporate focus of the Komen Foundation, the largest breast-cancer organization in the America. Such groups are saying that the consumerist pink-ribbon movement channels research money to drug companies, whose focus remains on therapy, not prevention. Activist organizations like BCA" also run by women whose lives have been changed by breast cancer" say that the pink-ribbon movement lulls people into complacency, making them think they are proactive while the numbers of women with breast cancer are still rising. Because the Komen Foundation is so large, and because its "Race for the Cure" campaign is so visible, the company has been the target of scrutiny. Among criticisms of the foundation are its politics, which are heavily corporation-friendly.

Prevention’ in the medical literature now means drugs for ‘women at risk,’ a small percentage of women who actually have known risk factors: family history, childbearing history, drug (hormone) history. More urgent is the fact that up to 75 percent of women with breast cancer have no ‘known’ risk factors. Most drugs deemed ‘preventive’ are really designed to prevent recurrence in women who already have certain types of breast cancer

The Breast Cancer Money-Go-Round

They're good girls and boys. Racing for the cure. Crying for the cameras. Sharing their pain. Wearing that crown of thorns like a halo. Nice folks. And aren't they "better people" for just having "survived" breast cancer? Or ... are they being played for suckers? Conned by a clever marketing strategy that makes heroes out of victims, and saints out of sinners. Racing for the cure, but running from the cause.

Zeneca also makes Tamoxifen, "a known carcinogen" according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). After only a few years of exposure, Tamoxifen can actually cause breast cancer, says a 1999 study from Duke University. "There is strong evidence of Tamoxifen's toxicity, including high risks of uterine, gastrointestinal and fatal liver cancer," reports The Cancer Information Network, adding that The Breast Cancer Prevention Trial (BCPT) conducted by the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) "found that women taking Tamoxifen had more than twice the chance of developing uterine cancer compared with women on placebo."

Herceptin - Miracle Cure, or Murky Research?
by Wendy McElroy

As a woman, I hope claims about Herceptin are true. But, unless a study has been thoroughly analyzed with a sharp critical eye, I have no reason to believe anything said about its accuracy. I must agree with Ioannina when he cautions, "There is increasing concern that most current published research findings are false." Given that patients make life-or-death decisions based on such research, this is a non-trivial matter.

The Breast Cancer Deception
by Sherrill Sellman

When it comes to environmental toxicity, carcinogens found in pesticides, herbicides, plastics, and other toxic chemicals that are known to cause cancer -- especially breast cancer -- there is booming silence by all Breast Cancer Awareness Month programs. Did the alarming increase of breast cancer rates just mysteriously happen? Or perhaps, the focus on the cure has conveniently ignored the cause? After, all it wouldn't really be good PR for Zeneca to have it known that their chemical products directly contribute to the breast cancer epidemic.

Many experts predicted as far back as 30 years ago that cancer rates would increase, citing an explosion of synthetic chemicals. From 1940 through the early 1980's, production of synthetic chemicals increased by a factor of 350.
